| Sacrament of Reconciliation |
|---|
Reconciliation is an invitation to place ourselves in God's gentle presence and the overwhelming truth about this sacrament is that God wants to heal us more than we want to be healed. Nothing gives Jesus greater joy than forgiving us our sins. Confessing involves saying the three most difficult words in the human language: "I was wrong". Once said, these words become lost in the mercy of God. The priest in his role as confessor in the Sacrament of Reconciliation can help because he understands that we sometimes need a voice other than our own to assure us that we are forgiven, that all is well. Through this sacrament God seeks to remove our fears and guide us into future confidence that we are loved by a God that desires so much for us.
When is the sacrament of Reconciliation celebrated at St. Rose? |
|---|
Reconciliation takes place Saturday mornings from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM and Saturday afternoons from 4:45 PM to 5:15 PM. Our Reconciliation room is located on the left side of the Church foyer.
If you are unable to attend our regularly scheduled Reconciliation time, appointments can be made with either Fr. Owen or Fr. Hubert by calling the Parish Office at (973) 887-5572. At St. Rose of Lima, we feel that Lord's healing and forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts we receive as a people of faith. We will do our best to extend the Sacrament of Reconciliation to all who seek it.
Communal Penance Services |
|---|
Several times during the year, during Advent and Lent, in particular, St. Rose will hold communal penance services for the entire Parish. At a communal penance service, parishioners and priests from around the area come together for a scripture service and reflection. The congregation is then given the opportunity to meet individually with one of the priests present to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. These communal Reconciliation services will be advertised in the bulletin in advance.
First Reconciliation |
|---|
Children are prepared to celebrate this sacrament in our School or our Religious Education program before they receive their First Communion.
